NPDF remembers K-9 Dano

K-9 Dano June 2, 2007 – September 6, 2016

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of retired K-9 Dano. He was born on June 2, 2007 in Germany. After a generous donation from Cold Steel Knives, K-9 Dano came to America to become a police K-9 in 2010.

K-9 Dano and his handler, Senior Deputy Delpit, were assigned to the Thousand Oaks, Ojai, and Moorpark stations. During his successful career, K-9 Dano found & apprehended numerous suspects, found large quantities of narcotics, tracked & located missing adults, and saved his handler’s life.

In 2014, K-9 Dano was awarded the first “K-9 Hero of the Year” by the National Police Dog Foundation for his courage while saving Senior Deputy Delpit’s life.

In 2015, K-9 Dano retired and continued to live with his handler.

K-9 Dano wasn’t just a hard working K-9 partner, he was a loyal friend who was always looking out for Senior Deputy Delpit. K-9 Dano will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

We miss you K-9 Dano and we will see you again. Rest easy friend.
