When does 5 = 50?

When does 5 become 50? When you have a great sponsor like Petplan.

That’s right—the National Police Dog Foundation (NPDF) is thrilled to announce that in 2018, we’ll be extending our number of Petplan K-9 health insurance grants from 5 to 50!

One of the primary missions of the NPDF is to ensure the wellbeing of active Law Enforcement K-9s—and securing access to necessary medical care is crucial. The cost of treatment can be expensive for these dedicated dogs who are often pushed to their physical limits in the line of duty.

In October 2016, NPDF was honored when Petplan, the world’s largest pet insurance provider, became our sponsor. Not only did Petplan provide a 10 percent discount on new pet insurance policies through the NPDF website, they also made a donation to NPDF for all new policies generated through our partnership. By the end of 2016, Petplan raised approximately $5,000 in donations through new policies!

The NPDF and Petplan decided to take the money raised and create a special insurance fund to help meet the medical needs of K-9s. In early 2017, the fund awarded its first set of grants: 12 months of Petplan insurance to 5 law enforcement K-9s selected from across the nation. Petplan reimburses the cost of veterinary bills for injuries and illnesses, easing the budgetary stress of local police departments and ensuring that our K-9s receive the highest standard of medical care that they deserve.

This year, we increased our success tenfold over 2016 and raised a whopping $53,750 from new Petplan policies! That means that in 2018, we’ll be able to raise our number of medical insurance grants to protect 50 hardworking police dogs. Stay tuned for 2018 Medical Insurance Grant applications, coming in January 2018. In the meantime, learn more about these grants and our Petplan partnership here.

THANK YOU PETPLAN AND THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS.
