K-9 Bella just wants to play

K-9 Bella is a loving five-year-old Belgium Malinois, who loves to go to the schools and play with the kids. She would do tricks and play ball with the kids all day long if she could.

However, Bella has work to do. She works for the White County Sheriff’s Office, GA, with her handler Deputy Sheriff James Motes. K-9 Bella can take credit for several large drug finds, including a recent large illegal drug shipment from California. She alerted her handler on a UPS box.

The summers in Georgia can get very hot and humid. Because White County Sheriff’s Office is a small department officers often have to multitask, so sometimes Bella has to be left in the vehicle for extended times.

The National Police Dog Foundation awarded White County Sheriff’s Office a Heat Alarm Grant. As is typical for small K-9 units across the nation, and it is the case with White County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 expenses are often paid for by the hander. The Foundation is proud to help keep K-9 Bella safe during those extended vehicle periods.

Thanks to a matching grant from Spirit of Blue and generous donations from donors like you, the National Police Dog Foundation is happy to have been able to provide a Heat Alarm grant for K-9 Bella and wishes her a safe summer.
