Over the last couple of years, the National Police Dog Foundation has grown. While we are very happy that we are supporting many more law enforcement departments and touching the lives of their K-9 heroes, with this growth has come a huge increase in demand for help.
The bottom line is we need your help! Your donations will make a difference in the lives of our nation’s police K-9s and handlers.
Ways you can help!
We understand that giving to charities can be a financial burden, but there are many ways to give.
Some ideas: – You can raise funds from others, ask your friends and family who they give to and would they consider giving to our Foundation. – Maybe you could ask for donations in lieu of gifts around the holidays or your birthday. – You can start a social media campaign to raise funds, reaching out to your friends and other contacts.
Participate in charity events, like walks or runs. Start a team that will raise funds for the event. Social media is also a great way to get the word out here. If you want to think even bigger, ask your employer to get involved. Some companies will match donations.
You can also talk to local business owners. Reach out to corporations, especially those with local offices. Be enthusiastic and persistent (but not too much). Get your community involved to help our K-9 heroes.
To make sure your gift goes to the cause that matters to you, we have simplified the way you can donate. We have created direct funds through which you can ensure your gift goes directly to support the fund that is most important to you.
Our fundraising efforts include the following funds that award grants to K-9 units across the nation:
– K-9 Purchasing Fund offers grants that assist law enforcement agencies with costs related to the purchasing of K-9s.
– K-9 Training Fund offers grants that assist law enforcement agencies with costs related to the initial training of K-9s.
– Active K-9 Medical Fund offers grants that assist law enforcement agencies with costs related to emergency medical expenses for active K-9s. In addition, the National Police Dog Foundation has also incorporated a network of veterinarians to help assist agencies with costly medical situations that might occur during their active service career.
– Retired K-9 Medical Fund offers grants that assist K-9 handlers with out-of-pocket costs related to emergency medical expenses for retired K-9s. We believe it is equally important to provide continued care for the law enforcement service dog after it retires. Our network of veterinarians includes some of the country’s most valued specialists in many varying areas of health care.
