1st Annual Police K-9 Memorial Service



The event will be co-hosted by the National Police Dog Foundation, Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) DC Lodge #1, LA Rescued, and United for Blue. The memorial service will include a wreath-laying ceremony to honor the memory of fallen police K-9s who have given their lives in the line of duty. Please join us as we remember the contributions and sacrifices of our fallen K-9 Heroes.

The National Police Dog Foundation will be hosting a reception following the ceremony at the nearby DC FOP Lodge #1, 711 4th St. NW, Washington DC, 20001.

NATIONAL POLICE DOG FOUNDATION K-9 MEMORIAL FUND In conjunction with the Memorial Service, the National Police Dog Foundation will be launching a K-9 Memorial Fund.

The fund will assist Law Enforcement Agencies in purchasing and training replacement K-9s for those who have fallen in the line of duty. The National Police Dog Foundation is currently looking for donors and sponsors to help launch the K-9 Memorial Fund. The fund will: – help cover the costs of the Police K-9 Memorial Service during Police Week in Washington, DC – help fund costs related to replacement K-9s and related training approximately $25,000.00 per K-9 to be street ready

THE 1st ANNUAL K-9 MEMORIAL SERVICE As part of the Police Week Events, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has scheduled the Police K-9 Memorial Service on May 11th at 1:00 pm. The Memorial Service will be attended by police chiefs and K-9 Officers, FBI agents and dignitaries from around the nation. The Memorial Service will be held at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. The service will be followed by a reception hosted by the National Police Dog Foundation at the Fraternal Order of Police DC Lodge #1.

POLICE WEEK (www.policeweek.org) In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. As many as 40,000 law enforcement officers and supporters from around the nation converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Police Week receives a huge amount of local and national media attention.
